Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Platform Engineer to design, build, and manage a next-generation private cloud infrastructure based on VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9. This role is with a leading U.S. financial institution and focuses on delivering highly available, secure, and automated enterprise cloud services that meet strict banking and regulatory standards.
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in the VMware ecosystem, strong infrastructure automation experience, and a solid background in enterprise systems, networking, and cloud platform engineering.
Key Responsibilities
Design, deploy, and manage VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9 private cloud environments.
Administer and optimize VMware vSphere (ESXi/vCenter) infrastructure at enterprise scale.
Implement and manage VMware NSX for software-defined networking and security.
Configure and maintain VMware Aria Suite (Aria Automation and Aria Operations).
Automate VM lifecycle management, day-two operations, and infrastructure workflows using APIs and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC).
Develop automation solutions using Python, Ansible, Terraform, and Git-based CI/CD pipelines.
Manage and troubleshoot RHEL and Windows Server environments.
Support enterprise networking, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, IPAM, routing, and switching.
Monitor and optimize compute, storage, and networking resources for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
Implement security controls, RBAC, micro-segmentation, and compliance best practices.
Ensure high availability, disaster recovery readiness, and regulatory compliance for critical banking applications.
Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and escalation support to engineering and operations teams.
Required Qualifications
8+ years of experience in enterprise VMware infrastructure and cloud platform engineering.
Strong expertise in:
o VMware vSphere (ESXi & vCenter)
o VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF)
o VMware NSX
o VMware Aria Suite (Automation & Operations)
Hands-on experience with RHEL and Windows Server administration.
Strong knowledge of enterprise networking and storage technologies (SAN/NAS, vSAN).
Experience with automation and scripting using Python, Ansible, Terraform, and Git.
Experience supporting highly available, secure, and compliant enterprise infrastructure environments.
Preferred Qualifications
VMware certifications such as VCP, VCAP, or VCIX.
Experience with OpenShift, Tanzu, Kubernetes, or public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
Experience working in financial services or other highly regulated industries.
Prior experience leading platform modernization and mentoring engineering teams.
Work Authorization & Location
Hybrid role: Candidates must be available to work onsite 2 3 days per week in Irving, TX or Charlotte, NC.
Candidates must reside within commuting distance of one of these locations.
