Finance Business Analyst

We are seeking a senior level IT Business Analysts embedded within Finance to support insurance financial reporting, close, and control driven initiatives. This role is not a general IT Business Analyst position.
The successful candidate will have direct experience supporting Finance teams at an insurance carrier, translating accounting and financial reporting requirements into system, data, and process changes. Candidates without insurance finance domain experience will not be considered.

Core Responsibilities:
Elicit, document, and validate requirements related to:
o Financial close and reconciliation processes
o Statutory and GAAP reporting
o Intercompany, reinsurance, and allocation workflows
o Finance controls, audit support, and data lineage
Translate Finance requirements into:
o User stories with clear acceptance criteria
o Functional specifications for data, reports, and interfaces
o Test scenarios supporting UAT and control validation
Partner with Finance stakeholders to:
o Analyze upstream/downstream systems impacts
o Identify data gaps, logic issues and control risks
o Support production issues tied to financial results
Collaborate closely with developers, QA, and data teams to ensure solutions meet financial accuracy, completeness, and auditability standards

Preferred (Strongly Differentiating) Experience
Prior work supporting:
o Regulatory or audit driven initiatives
o Finance transformation or reporting modernization
Data and reporting exposure:
o SQL (validation, reconciliation, or analysis)
o Financial data warehouses or reporting layers
Experience with finance adjacent platforms (examples):
o ERP or general ledger feeds
o Custom financial reporting solutions
Comfort operating in environments where financial accuracy and controls outweigh speed.

This is a Contract position based out of Omaha, NE.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $10.00 - $11.00/hr.
