Summary

About Us:

Datacor is the leading provider of software solutions, including ERP, CRM, Asset Tracking, Simulation and Formulation, to the process manufacturing space. We are on a mission to better equip the industry with software solutions and move it forward by building thoughtful, intuitive products that solve our customers' most difficult problems.

We are passionate about serving our customers and helping them use data as a competitive advantage. Our customers make products that extend and sustain lives by sanitizing, fertilizing, beautifying, cleaning, and recycling the world we live in. We at Datacor help our customers make those products you use every day more safely, cost effectively and more efficiently through our technology platforms and applications.

The Role:

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced User Experience Designer to support our Datacor Engineering Software Group (DESG)-which encompasses two respected product families: CHEMCAD (a chemical process simulator) and our Pipe Flow Modeling suite of tools (Fathom, Arrow, Impulse, xStream). These products are used to model systems in nuclear power generation, chemical processing plants, oil and gas, aerospace, mining, data centers, and other industrial applications.

In this role, you'll craft thoughtful product experiences from concept to execution, working closely with mechanical and chemical engineers, as well as developers. If you're passionate about reducing complexity through design and creating products with real-world impact, we'd love to hear from you.

Responsibilities:
  • Conceptualize and design product solutions that balance visionary thinking, craftsmanship, efficiency, and business potential.
  • Meticulously craft new product features - from initial ideas and user experiences to polished, pixel-perfect designs.
  • Lead projects end to end, collaborating with engineers to bring concepts from vision to deployment.
  • Work hand-in-hand with product managers to understand customer and user needs, using this data and intuition to scope design work aligned with the product roadmap.
  • Serve as a mentor to junior designers, providing guidance and feedback in support of their growth.
  • Establish and steward local, product specific design systems, defining core components, patterns, and guidelines that create consistency, quality, and scalability as our products and teams grow.
  • Expand product design operations, ensuring processes are efficient, collaborative, and aligned with team and product objectives.
  • Understand customer needs, exploring and advocating for user experiences that effectively solve their problems

Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of product design experience, with the ability to run projects independently from start to finish
  • Degree in engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent experienced working closely with engineering-driven projects
  • Experience designing and building great products using Figma
  • Experience with enterprise level business-to-business products with a product-led, SaaS environment
  • Ability to develop, scale, and socialize design systems within organizations, with a demonstrated ability to craft lean, implementation documentation
  • Ability to untangle ambiguous concepts, leveraging intuition and experience
  • Ability to balance design excellence with business impact, considering practicality and speed without getting caught up in unnecessary complexity or overly abstract solutions
  • Strong communication skills to share opinions and invite alternative perspectives, including listening to feedback and collaborating with stakeholders
  • Experience with large language modules and prompt-to-design tools such as Figma Make
  • An enthusiasm for AI-enabled workflows
  • An understanding of code and interest in engineering/technical systems
