Manufacturing Systems Manager (WorkWise ERP)

Role Overview

The Manufacturing Systems Manager owns the systems that run the factory, with primary responsibility for WorkWise ERP and supporting plant IT infrastructure. This role ensures that manufacturing systems accurately reflect shop floor activity, enable efficient execution, and provide reliable operational and financial visibility.

This is a hands-on, plant-facing role focused on execution, uptime, and data accuracy—bridging production, materials, finance, and IT to ensure systems support how work actually gets done.

Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing Execution & ERP Ownership

• Own day-to-day operation and optimization of WorkWise ERP across manufacturing
• Ensure accurate setup and ongoing maintenance of:
  • Bills of Material (BOMs)
  • Routings, labor standards, and work centers
  • Production schedules and work orders
• Partner with Production, Scheduling, and Materials to align ERP with real shop floor constraints
• Improve accuracy and discipline in:
  • Labor reporting
  • Material transactions
  • WIP tracking and job completions
• Eliminate manual workarounds and off-system tracking

Inventory, Planning & Cost Visibility

• Drive inventory accuracy through system discipline, cycle counts, and controls
• Support MRP accuracy, lead times, and purchasing workflows
• Own ERP-based job costing, variance analysis, and operational margin visibility
• Partner with Finance to ensure costing structures reflect manufacturing reality

Plant IT Infrastructure & Systems Support

• Manage and support plant-level IT infrastructure, including:
  • ERP hosting environment (on-prem or cloud)
  • Network connectivity for office and shop floor systems
  • User access, permissions, and basic security controls
  • End-user hardware and system availability
• Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of manufacturing systems
• Coordinate backups, disaster recovery, and system monitoring
• Manage integrations between WorkWise and other systems (CRM, accounting, WMS, reporting tools)
• Act as escalation point for ERP and manufacturing systems issues impacting production

Process Improvement & Adoption

• Serve as the bridge between manufacturing teams and system capabilities
• Identify system-driven improvements to:
  • Increase throughput
  • Reduce downtime and rework
  • Improve schedule adherence and inventory accuracy
• Train supervisors, planners, and shop floor users on proper system usage
• Develop and maintain SOPs, standards, and documentation for manufacturing systems

Vendor & Project Coordination

• Coordinate with WorkWise support, MSPs, and external vendors
• Lead or support ERP upgrades, enhancements, and infrastructure changes
• Ensure system changes are implemented with minimal disruption to production

Required Experience & Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on WorkWise ERP experience in an industrial or discrete manufacturing environment
• Strong understanding of manufacturing operations and shop floor execution
• Proven experience supporting plant IT infrastructure, including:
  • ERP system environments
  • Network and basic server administration
  • End-user support in a manufacturing setting
• Deep knowledge of:
  • BOMs, routings, and work orders
  • Production scheduling and MRP
  • Inventory control and job costing
• Comfortable working on the shop floor and directly with production teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting or leading ERP implementations or major upgrades
• Background in manufacturing operations, production planning, or industrial engineering
• Experience in make-to-order or engineer-to-order environments
• Familiarity with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
• Experience working with MSPs or hybrid IT environments
