We’re growing and looking for a skilled Service Technician to join our team.
Position Summary
The Service Technician is a mid-level technical role responsible for troubleshooting, defining, and resolving complex audio, video, and control system issues for our clients. This position requires hands-on technical expertise across AV systems, IT networking, and signal flow. The Service Technician ensures every system performs at its best, every client receives prompt and professional support, and every interaction reflects Kontek’s standard of technical excellence.
What You’ll Do
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair integrated AV systems with precision and professionalism.
- Configure and test video conferencing, DSPs, and audio systems.
- Retrieve, load, and edit control system code and graphical user interfaces (Crestron, Extron, etc.).
- Perform advanced troubleshooting of IT networks and switch configurations.
- Repair or replace connectors, cables, and other system components.
- De-install/install AV devices and system components as required.
- Accurately mark up field documentation and maintain job-related configuration files, code, and graphic layouts.
- Provide detailed written documentation of findings and follow up on unresolved issues.
- Deliver system training to clients when required.
- Mentor and support junior technicians and team members.
- Attend coordination and safety meetings; maintain certifications and ongoing training.
- Follow OSHA and Kontek safety standards at all times.
What We’re Looking For
- 3–5 years of AV service or installation experience.
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
- CTS certification (or ability to achieve within 90 days).
- Strong understanding of AV signal flow, control systems, and networking.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, work in tight spaces, and travel locally.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CTS-I certification
- OSHA-10 construction safety training
- Extron or Crestron programming experience
- IT network certifications
