Neos is currently seeking a GIS Training Coordinator/Training Support Specialist for a multi-year contract position with our client in Austin, Texas.

GIS Specialist to facilitate training initiatives and develop core curriculum for client staff and contractors who want to expand their GIS capabilities. This role will also support the training and events calendars, coordinate with subject matter experts to present varying approaches and methods used across the agency, and promote learning opportunities to the agency. Requires an organized individual with a passion for GIS who enjoys assisting others with unique challenges and learning opportunities. It is a hybrid role - staff will do hands on GIS, document processes, and develop curricula and learning aids.
This contract will serve as the GIS coordinator, and additional positions will be posted to support with content development.
Minimum (Required):
3 years Required - Client's Statewide GIS Program is seeking a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) professional with technical and training experience including geospatial concepts/cartography, GIS data management, tools, and platforms/software (Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Pro/ArcMap, ArcGIS Online, GIS Web Mapping)
This position will work closely with the GIS Training coordinator to aid development of Client specific GIS training to business units across the state. Additionally, the position will work closely with other technical staff to identify GIS training and documentation needs to help build Client Geospatial standards and support data and platform governance processes.
3 years Required -
Development of training materials and job aids, standard operating procedures related to GIS/geospatial training curricula
Video/audio recording and editing
Microsoft platform - SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint or Visio
Technical writing
Staff will be expected to participate or lead training sessions, test and validate training modules and coursework, and assist with visual content development such as graphics and video examples.
Formal education in Communications, Education, Geographic Information Systems, or other learning modalities can be substituted for professional experience.
