RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce's client is looking to hire for a Manufacturing Controls Development Engineer to be onsite in Austin, TX.
Role Overview:
Join a team of approximately 15 controls engineers with strong Siemens and FANUC backgrounds. The team supports advanced material handling systems, including AMRs, conveyors, lifters, ASRS, and shuttle systems in a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role averages 50 hours per week, with overtime paid after 60 hours. Flexibility is required to support late/afternoon shifts and production schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead integration and commissioning of Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) into production lines
* Execute projects independently with ambiguous requirements while following internal standards
* Perform hands-on electrical debugging and troubleshooting, including wiring and hardware issues
* Own automation safety design and implementation, including area scanners, safe radar, and safety software
* Ensure compliance with safety standards, including LOTO and PPE requirements
* Support testing and commissioning outside of production hours as needed
REQUIREMENTS:
* 3+ years of Siemens controls experience (TIA Portal, Ladder Logic, STL/Structured Text)
* Candidates must have or be able to obtain required PPE and complete standard safety training
* LOTO and working-at-heights training may be reimbursed if needed
* Proven experience commissioning new lines or greenfield projects (not production-only support)
* Experience with material handling, robotics, and AMR deployments (controls-side preferred)
* Strong background in automation safety systems and standards
* Ability to work independently with minimal direction
Nice to Have:
* Ignition SCADA experience
* Automotive or large-scale warehouse/logistics background
* Familiarity with SIC safety products and software
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
