Job Description


Position Summary


Data Engineers provide businesses with data-driven solutions to help improve processes, decision-making, and overall business performance. Primary focus is to gather, analyze, interpret, and present data to help businesses make strategic decisions. A data engineer is responsible for designing data solution frameworks using Hadoop tools and technologies. They are also responsible for ingesting data from databases, streams, and files and processing the same with Hadoop, SQL database, Spark, and IoT. Data engineers develop programs using Python and Scala to clean and process raw data. They design software codes for various cases using Big Data technologies and Python. Data engineers collaborate with data scientists to improve data transparency and enable better decision-making processes.


Duties and Responsibilities:


Analyze and organize raw data


Build data systems and pipelines


Evaluate business needs and objectives


Interpret trends and patterns


Conduct complex data analysis and report on results


Prepare data for prescriptive and predictive modeling


Build algorithms and prototypes


Combine raw information from different sources


Explore ways to enhance data quality and reliability


Identify opportunities for data acquisition


Develop analytical tools and programs


Collaborate with data scientists and architects on several projects


Analyze data to determine accuracy, completeness of data relationships between different data sets


Gather and document business and functional requirements, designs and develops reports, dashboards and ad hoc analyses using databases, business intelligence tools and desktop analysis tools



  • Design and build data models and build data product roadmaps to support business processes


Responsible for prototyping solutions, preparing test scripts, and conducting tests and for data replication, extraction, loading, cleansing, and data modeling for data warehouses



  • Assist with the integration and transformation of data resources


Use data science principles and algorithms to analyze the data for CR data quality


Identify rich data sources and build tools to effectively work with the data

Required Qualifications


Previous experience as a data engineer or in a similar role


Degree in Computer Science, IT, or similar field; a Master's is a plus


Data engineering certification (e.g IBM Certified Data Engineer) is a plus


Technical expertise with data models, data mining, and segmentation techniques


Certification in data analytics or related fields


Knowledge of programming languages (e.g. Java and Python)


Experience with big data technologies like Hadoop or Spark



  • Proficiency in SQL and other data manipulation languages


Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills


Familiarity with machine learning algorithms


Proven track record of managing and executing data projects



Desired Qualifications


3+ years working with data migrations and/or implementations
