CCNP-Level Network Engineer (Cisco Nexus 9K / Cisco ACI)
- Candidates need to do some physical installation, like patching cables or installing small 1U switch modules, when needed. They would not be required to do any large equipment (chassis, etc.) which would be done by UCLA R&S vendor.
Responsible for the design, provisioning, configuration, and ongoing support of Cisco Nexus 9000 switches across both NXOS and Cisco ACI fabric environments. Performs advanced Layer 2 and Layer 3 troubleshooting, including VLAN segmentation, trunking, vPC/portchannel architecture, SVIs, and dynamic routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP. Leads root-cause analysis for complex network incidents using CLI diagnostics, logs, counters, telemetry, and enterprise monitoring tools to ensure high availability and performance.
In Cisco ACI environments, provides operational oversight and hands-on support for fabric health, tenant architecture, and application connectivity. Designs and implements ACI constructs including tenants, VRFs, bridge domains, application profiles, EPGs, contracts, and filters in alignment with architectural standards and security policies. Performs advanced endpoint and path troubleshooting, fault analysis, health score remediation, and policy enforcement validation using APIC tools. Leads fabric provisioning efforts such as leaf/spine onboarding, interface and access policy design, domain and VLAN pool configuration, and executes fabric upgrades or expansions with minimal operational impact.
Plays a key role in change planning, implementation, and post-change validation for network deployments and enhancements. Maintains accurate network documentation, diagrams, and operational standards. Collaborates closely with network architecture, server, virtualization, security, and application teams to support deployments, resolve escalated incidents, and ensure network scalability, stability, and policy compliance.

- Expert experience with Cisco Catalyst 9K switches
- Experience working on SDA fabric configuration and related refresh activities
- 3 years experience performing network switch refresh activities
- Expert level TCP IP knowledge
