Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced IBM i (iSeries) Administrator responsible for managing, maintaining, and supporting enterprise systems running on IBM i (formerly known as AS/400 and IBM System i).
The ideal candidate will ensure system stability, security, performance optimization, and backup/recovery operations for mission-critical business applications.
Key Responsibilities:
System Administration:
Install, configure, and maintain IBM i environments
Perform OS upgrades and apply PTFs (Program Temporary Fixes)
Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues
Manage subsystems, job queues, and batch processing
Security & Compliance:
Create and manage user profiles and authority levels
Implement security policies and auditing controls
Monitor system access and resolve security vulnerabilities
Backup & Disaster Recovery:
Configure and manage BRMS (Backup, Recovery and Media Services)
Perform regular system backups and test restores
Support disaster recovery planning and execution
Database & Storage Management:
Monitor and manage DB2 databases on IBM i
Manage disk space, ASPs, and storage utilization
Perform database backups and performance tuning
Support & Collaboration:
Support application teams (RPG, COBOL, CL programs)
Work with infrastructure, network, and security teams
Provide on-call support as required
Required Skills:
Strong experience with IBM i / iSeries / AS400 administration
Knowledge of CL (Control Language)
Understanding of DB2 on IBM i
Experience with BRMS or similar backup tools
System performance monitoring and tuning
Security and user profile management
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
3–10+ years of IBM i system administration experience
