Request Summary:
• Bill Rate Max:*** Hourly - please note that the sponsor has indicated a target range of ***–120, with openness to the higher rate (***) for candidates who demonstrate strong senior level experience. Please submit candidates at an appropriate rate aligned with their skill level.
• Candidate Location Requirements: 100% remote. Open to candidates across all time zones with a preference for PST support. Strong preference for candidates based near Redmond, WA who can work onsite at the Bear Creek A building approximately 3 days/week; these candidates will be prioritized.

• Purpose of the Team: The purpose of this team is to support (Minecraft) by preparing and managing data for analytics, reporting, and downstream use across AI/ML, marketing, and product systems.
• Key projects: This role will contribute to the refactoring and redesign of the game’s commerce and economy systems, with a focus on improving how data supports monetization and creator-driven experiences. Contribute to advancing the overall analytics environment by designing scalable, future-proof data solutions that better support the studio’s evolving needs.

We’re looking for a Data & Analytics Architect to join the Player and Data Analytics team at Mojang Studios. Responsibilities
•Build subject matter expertise of our business and data domains to collaborate with data consumers and stakeholders to understand their information needs and assist them with data access.
•Identify, define, and design Features for Analytics Environment to meet data consumers’ information needs.
•Map business opportunities to appropriate data architecture patterns and evolve data architecture as business strategies and technologies mature
•Identify and analyze multi-structured data or metadata from a variety of sources to select and model the best data which fulfills the analytics requirements.
•Design adaptable data models, architect dataflows, and develop systems to deliver scalable solutions for analytics, processes, and machine learning.
•Define governed access patterns with specifications for implementation.
•Unify collections of data requirements for key data concepts across the enterprise, harmonizing business definitions and semantics, and specifying data designs expressed as business semantic models, data models, lifecycle models, taxonomies, etc.
•Guide the successful execution of data architecture vision through adoption of governance principles and practices
•Build & maintain Reference Model Architecture and Standards for communicating direction of Information Architecture
Required Qualifications
•Undergraduate degree AND 5+ years experience in data/analytics/information architecture, or related software development work OR Graduate degree AND 3+ years experience in data/analytics/information architecture or related software development work
oOR equivalent experience.
•2+ years working as a Data Architect, Analytics Architect, Information Architect or equivalent on large enterprise systems with a wide range of data sources.
•Demonstrated capability to assess complex systems and information landscapes, translating business concepts into coherent data and analytics architectures.
•Critical thinker and problem solver who brings a creative and open mindset to deliver high impact data products and analytics solutions.
•Data analysis and exploration skills to identify, select and model data for analytics.
•Proficient with SQL; Working knowledge of Python
•General video game domain knowledge
Preferred Qualifications
•Polyglot data modeling knowledge and skills
•Expert with SQL and intermediate python skills for data transformation and automation
•Experience building or managing video game commerce systems and economies
•Experience leveraging AI products to accelerate analysis, improve data quality, and streamline delivery.
•Working knowledge of DevOps and DataOps.
