Job Description:
Lead Instrumentation & Controls CSU Engineer responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing pre-commissioning, commissioning, and startup activities for instrumentation and control systems on a large-scale mining and processing project. The role works closely with engineering, construction, project management, contractors, and the client to ensure safe, timely, and successful system turnover and startup.
Job Responsibilities:
Lead pre-commissioning, commissioning, and startup activities for Instrumentation & Controls systems.
Develop startup plans, testing procedures, system turnover plans, and Advanced Work Packages.
Coordinate component, system, and integrated facility-level testing of I&C systems.
Monitor commissioning schedules, progress, budgets, risks, and corrective actions.
Lead system turnover walkdowns and manage resolution of punch-list items.
Coordinate with engineering and construction teams to resolve I&C design and installation issues.
Review and update system descriptions, vendor manuals, operating procedures, and commissioning documentation.
Prepare, award, and administer specialty subcontracts supporting commissioning activities.
Provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to client and project personnel.
Troubleshoot and support PLC, HMI, SCADA, DCS, instrumentation, and control systems during startup.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with 10 13 years of relevant experience, or 14 17 years of relevant work experience.
Minimum 7 years of experience in pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, or facility operations.
At least 2 years of supervisory or managerial experience.
Experience with PLC, HMI, SCADA, and DCS systems.
Additional Information:
Location: Thacker Pass, NV; full-time office/project assignment.
Schedule: 3 weeks on / 1 week off; camp-based project with required shiftwork, overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Project Benefits: 10% project allowance, 10% project completion incentive, mobilization/demobilization covered, and trips home covered.
Mining & Metals, Mining/Extraction, or large-scale industrial commissioning experience is preferred.
Must be physically capable of walking approximately 3 miles/day, climbing stairs/ladders, and working outdoors in temperatures ranging from -10 F to 105 F.
