Job Description:
The Sr. Physical Security Engineer is a client-facing technical practitioner within Client’s SC&E Physical Security practice, responsible for translating Architect-approved designs into executed deployments. Working alongside the Sr. Physical Security Architect, this role owns the implementation documentation, client delivery, and field presence that bring enterprise-grade physical security programs to life — from the first installation call through final commissioning and project closeout.
Day-to-day, you will develop Methods of Procedure (MOPs) and Deployment Guides from the Architect’s approved design packages, present those deliverables to client stakeholders, and lead the go/no-go call for deployment readiness. You are the primary technical resource on daytime installation calls and the backup owner for overnight cutovers. You will configure and commission access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection systems — and ensure every deployment meets the standards the Architect defined and approved. Strong troubleshooting skills and deep platform familiarity are essential; so is the poise to represent Client in front of clients during high-stakes deployment windows.
This role is designed for a practitioner who has mastered the technical execution side of physical security and is ready to grow. Strong Engineers who develop design instincts, platform breadth, and consultative presence have a clear path toward the Sr. Physical Security Architect role as the practice scales.
Responsibilities:
- Develop Methods of Procedure (MOPs) and Deployment Guides from Architect-approved design packages, incorporate Architect review feedback prior to client delivery
- Present approved MOPs and Deployment Guides to client stakeholders; lead the go/no-go call for deployment readiness
- Serve as the primary technical resource on daytime client installation calls; provide backup coverage for overnight cutovers and critical system transitions
- Configure and commission enterprise-grade access control, video management, and intrusion detection systems across client environments
- Validate system functionality against design specifications, own punch list resolution, and acceptance testing
- Produce as-built documentation, closeout packages, and post-deployment reports following project completion
- Troubleshoot integration issues across physical security subsystems and IP network infrastructure during deployment; escalate design-level conflicts to the Architect with clear, documented context
- Coordinate with general contractors, low-voltage subcontractors, and client IT teams to ensure deployment execution aligns with the Architect-approved plan and project schedule
- Support the Architect in developing bills of materials (BOMs), hardware specifications, and technical scoping documents
- Maintain platform certifications on Client’s physical security stack and stay current on product updates and release notes Qualifications The ideal candidate has spent 5–8 years doing real physical security work — configuring systems, troubleshooting integrations, and documenting what was built. You don’t need to have run engagements solo yet, but you do need to know what a clean deployment looks like and be ready to own one.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering Technology, Information Technology, or a related technical field — or equivalent professional experience
- 5–8 years of hands-on experience in physical security systems integration, installation engineering, or design support
- Demonstrated experience producing technical documentation: MOPs, deployment guides, as-built drawings, or equivalent field closeout deliverables
- Hands-on configuration and commissioning experience with at least one Tier 1 enterprise platform: Genetec Security Center, Lenel/LenelS2 OnGuard, Software House C*CURE 9000, or Milestone xProtect
- Working knowledge of IP networking fundamentals: VLANs, PoE switches, camera network segmentation
- Experience reading and working from issued-for-construction (IFC) drawings, riser diagrams, and point-to-point wiring diagrams
- ASIS PSP (Physical Security Professional) — preferred, or willingness to obtain within 18 months
- Proficiency with security design software for as-built documentation — Visio, Avigilon design tools, System Surveyor, AutoCAD, or equivalent (preferred)
- Experience with intrusion detection system programming (DSC, Bosch, Honeywell) — preferred Required Technical Skills
- Genetec Security Center — configuration, device onboarding, event management
- Lenel / LenelS2 OnGuard or Software House C*CURE 9000 — at least one at configuration depth
- Milestone xProtect — configuration and commissioning experience
- Axis camera platforms — device setup and ACAP analytics configuration
- IP network fundamentals: VLANs, PoE, camera networking
- System testing and acceptance validation methodology
- Technical documentation: MOPs, deployment guides, as-built drawings
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio) for documentation and coordination
- Security design and layout software: Visio, Avigilon design tools, System Surveyor, or AutoCAD — for as-built and field redline markup (preferred)
- PSIM platforms (Genetec Mission Control, Proximex, or equivalent) — exposure preferred Travel This position requires some travel to client sites for installation support, commissioning, and cutovers. Overnight travel is occasionally required for scheduled system cutovers and critical deployments.
