Summary
Job Title: Mainframe Architect
Location: 100% Remote (USA)
Must-Have Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in Mainframe Architecture, Solution Architecture, Infrastructure, or Systems Engineering.
- Strong hands-on expertise with COBOL, CICS, DB2, IMS, JCL, VSAM, MQ, z/OS, batch processing, scheduling tools, storage, security, automation, monitoring, and capacity management.
- Experience designing end-to-end mainframe application and infrastructure solutions.
- Proven experience in mainframe modernization, optimization, performance tuning, workload management, disaster recovery, and cost optimization (MIPS reduction).
- Ability to assess existing environments and recommend modernization, automation, resiliency, and cost-efficient solutions.
- Experience creating architecture designs, implementation plans, solution roadmaps, estimates, and client-facing technical recommendations.
- Strong knowledge of IT Operations Management (ITOM), including incident, change, problem, configuration, monitoring, and service management.
- Experience collaborating with application, infrastructure, operations, security, and cloud teams.
- Excellent client-facing communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred:
- Experience with mainframe modernization (rehost, refactor, API enablement, DevOps, hybrid cloud).
- Knowledge of ServiceNow ITOM, CMDB, service mapping, event management, and operational analytics.
- Mainframe, cloud, or architecture certifications are a plus.
