Summary

Overview

Lead engineering strategy and execution across RealPage's Smart Building portfolio, including STRATIS, Smart Building Portal, access control, IoT and gateways, Chirp, mobile and web, Managed WiFi, and Smart Water. The portfolio spans device software and integrations through resident apps and field installer tools. This role sits within Engineering and partners closely with Product leaders to help shape and align on portfolio strategy, roadmaps, priorities, and outcomes.

You'll lead a distributed engineering organization of 36 across the US, India, and the Philippines, including the five-person Managed WiFi team. You'll develop the management team, strengthen the organization's leadership and operating model, and guide teams toward reliable delivery, technical excellence, and customer value.

A major priority is delivering the STRATIS Unified Platform by Q1 2027. The platform will replace the legacy STRATIS and Managed WiFi platforms over time, requiring continued support for both environments during migration.

Responsibilities

  • Set engineering strategy and execution priorities across the Smart Building portfolio, partnering closely with Product to align roadmaps, investment priorities, and customer outcomes.
  • Lead delivery of the STRATIS Unified Platform and plan the migration from both legacy platforms.
  • Maintain reliable legacy products, address recurring customer issues, and support customers through migration.
  • Integrate Managed WiFi engineering and establish a clear technical direction for its active systems, in partnership with Product.
  • Reestablish engineering ownership for Smart Water, partnering with Product to define the team structure and product direction.
  • Coach and develop managers and senior engineers; strengthen the management layer and provide direct support to senior contributors as needed.
  • Set priorities, remove blockers, and keep delivery moving across multiple product lines.
  • Partner with Product, IT, Customer Operations, Technical Operations, and business leaders on roadmaps, dependencies, commitments, and risks.
  • Grow engineering ownership in India while retaining and engaging the senior US team.
  • Guide development of the resident and field installer apps across React Native and native iOS and Android.
  • Expand the use of agentic coding tools and assess their impact on delivery and customer outcomes.
  • Partner with Product to bring Lumina-based AI capabilities into Smart Buildings products.
  • Lead co-development and support relationships with access-control and IoT partners.
  • Track delivery performance, including DORA metrics, and provide input on engineering capacity, contractor needs, and software and tooling investments.

Qualifications

  • A track record of delivering against fixed-date commitments with clearly defined teams.
  • Experience leading multiple product lines in a distributed engineering organization.
  • 3+ years of engineering management experience
  • 5+ years of web software development experience (some mobile experience preferred)
  • 8+ years of experience with a mobile CI/CD build system (preferably ADO Pipelines)
  • Ideal candidate will have experience with the following technologies: Swift/iOS, Kotlin/Android and React/React Native environments
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to make decisions quickly
  • Extensive experience with software delivery in an agile environment
  • Experience with cross functional team collaboration in an enterprise environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Experience with hardware and software based integrations preferred
  • Experience building a replacement platform while maintaining legacy systems and migrating customers.
  • Strong coaching skills and the ability to develop managers and senior technical talent. #LI-JL1 #LI-REMOTE
