Job Title: Cloud Platform Delivery Director

Position Overview

The Cloud Platform Delivery Director is a leader responsible for driving enterprise-wide adoption, optimization, and value realization of cloud technologies. This role bridges the gap between business strategy and cloud execution, ensuring that cloud investments deliver measurable business outcomes. This role requires deep technical expertise, strong leadership, and a passion for mentoring teams in cloud-native practices

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Engineering & Business Alignment
  • Partner with business and technology leaders to align cloud capabilities with organizational goals and digital transformation strategies.
  • Translate business objectives into actionable cloud enablement roadmaps.
  • Drive adoption of cloud-enabled business models, products, and services.
  • Establish success metrics for cloud business outcomes (e.g., revenue growth, time-to-market, customer experience).
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) across cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform).
  • Guide engineering teams in adopting cloud-native patterns and DevOps practices.
  • Lead proof-of-concept initiatives and pilot projects.
Enablement & Change Leadership
  • Lead cloud adoption and maturity programs across business units.
  • Build and oversee cloud training, communications, and organizational change initiatives.
  • Serve as an advocate for cloud-first ways of working, fostering cultural and behavioral change.
  • Enable cross-functional teams (finance, operations, IT, product, risk) to leverage cloud services effectively.
Financial & Value Management
  • Partner with Finance and Procurement to manage cloud investment planning, chargeback/showback models, and ROI tracking.
  • Monitor financial performance of cloud initiatives and ensure accountability for outcomes.
  • Drive cost optimization and value realization through FinOps practices.
  • Develop and present executive-level dashboards and reports to track business impact of cloud adoption.
Governance & Risk Management
  • Establish governance frameworks that balance speed, agility, and control.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, security, and risk requirements for cloud adoption.
  • Partner with legal, risk, and compliance teams to mitigate business and operational risks.
Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership
  • Act as a trusted advisor to executives, business unit leaders, and technology stakeholders.
  • Facilitate cross-enterprise collaboration to maximize cloud value creation.
  • Represent the organization in external forums, vendor engagements, and industry events.
  • Mentor and develop high-performing teams to support cloud business enablement.
Qualifications

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, or related field (Master's/MBA preferred).
  • Progressive leadership experience in cloud strategy, business enablement, or digital transformation.
  • 8+ years of experience in IT, with 4+ years in cloud architecture or engineering roles.
  • Strong background in cloud computing (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) and enterprise business processes.
  • Proven track record of leading organizational change and driving business value from technology.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and influencing at the executive level.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Strategic thinker with strong business and financial acumen.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and executive presence.
  • Knowledge of cloud financial management (FinOps) principles.
  • Strong understanding of change management, organizational enablement, and digital operating models.
  • Ability to translate complex cloud and technology concepts into business value narratives.

  • Increased speed-to-market and innovation outcomes enabled by cloud.

Salary Range:
$164,600 - 288,000 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
