DATABASE ARCHITECT INTEGRATION & CLOUD TRANSITION

ROLE OBJECTIVE
The Database Architect provides deep expertise in assessing, designing, and transitioning enterprise database platforms during IT integration initiatives. The role ensures data availability, integrity, security, and performance throughout integration while enabling modernization and future scalability.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY
The Database Architect is accountable for all structured data platforms across onpremises and cloud environments, including businesscritical transactional systems, analytics platforms, and integration databases.
DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct full database discovery across all environments and data centers.
- Document database platforms, versions, configurations, storage, and licensing models.
- Assess performance, capacity, availability, and operational maturity.
- Identify HA/DR, replication, backup, and recovery gaps.
- Evaluate data dependencies between applications and integration platforms.
- Assess security controls including encryption, access, auditing, and compliance.
- Define targetstate database architectures including hybrid and cloudnative options.
- Develop phased migration and integration strategies aligned with application sequencing.
- Define data governance, backup, retention, and compliance standards.
- Produce detailed database transition runbooks including validation and rollback steps.
- Support migration execution, testing, and postcutover stabilization.
- Collaborate with application, infrastructure, security, and operations teams.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- 10 15+ years in database architecture or senior DBA roles
- Strong experience with hybrid and multisite database environments
- Expertise in HA/DR, data protection, and governance
- Ability to support complex, highrisk integration programs
