Job Description
You will be the Senior Optical Engineer for the Electro Optical Systems team. Our team designs, develops, and validates cutting edge EO fire control, missile, and laser subsystems for advanced military platforms. We turn visionary concepts into flight ready hardware by integrating optics, mechanics, and electronics into rugged, high performance solutions.
What You Will Be Doing
As the Senior Optical Engineer you will lead the end to end optical design effort for complex EO weapons. You'll partner with program managers, subsystem leads, and external partners to translate mission requirements into manufacturable optical architectures, while driving cost effective production and rapid issue resolution.
Your responsibilities will include:
Create, analyze, and optimize optical layouts using CodeV (or equivalent) for geometrical and physical optics performance.
Perform tolerance and sensitivity studies, maintaining the system wide optical prescription and updating it as the design evolves.
Develop manufacturing, integration, and alignment processes that improve producibility and reduce cost.
Troubleshoot hardware failures in the lab and on field, applying research findings to achieve hardware performance targets.
Support subcontractor teams with design reviews, process improvements, and cost reduction initiatives.
Initiate and lead optics related producibility and cost saving activities across the program.
Conduct research and development to advance optical concepts, materials, and fabrication techniques.
Travel to optics suppliers and partner facilities to oversee critical deliveries, resolve technical issues, and keep schedules on track.
