This Job Description (JD) is for a Senior SAP BusinessObjects (BOBJ) Developer specializing in migrating legacy universes to SAP BOBJ 4.x/BI 2025 and re-pointing them to a Snowflake Cloud Data Warehouse. The role focuses on Information Design Tool (IDT) development, UNX conversion, SQL optimization for Snowflake, and WebI report migration.
Job Summary
Role: Senior SAP BOBJ Developer (Migration Focus)
Location: [Hybrid]
Project Focus: Legacy Universe/Report migration to Snowflake
Key Responsibilities
Universe Development: Design, develop, and maintain complex universes using Information Design Tool (IDT) and Universe Design Tool (UDT).
Migration Execution: Migrate existing UNV universes to UNX format and re-point WebI reports to Snowflake.
Snowflake Optimization: Tune BusinessObjects SQL queries specifically for Snowflake to ensure high-performance reporting (utilizing clustering, materialized views).
Report Development: Create/Modify sophisticated Web Intelligence (WebI) reports, utilizing multiple universes and complex data blending.
Data Modeling: Translate business requirements into logical/physical data models for Snowflake (star/snowflake schemas).
Validation & Testing: Perform rigorous data validation between legacy systems and Snowflake to ensure report consistency (accuracy testing).
Administration: Utilize CMC for promotion management, security settings, and scheduled report delivery.
Required Skills & Experience
Experience: 5+ years of BOBJ development experience (4.2/4.3), with at least 1-2 years experience specifically working with Snowflake.
Tools: Expert-level IDT (UNX), WebI, UDT, and CMC.
SQL Mastery: Strong advanced SQL skills, specifically for Snowflake data warehousing.
Migration Experience: Proven experience migrating from legacy data sources (e.g., Teradata, Oracle, SAP BW) to Snowflake.
Platform: Experience with SAP BI 4.x platform administration and WebI report development.
Nice-to-Have Skills
Experience with 360Suite (360Eyes, 360Bind) for migration assessment.
Knowledge of SAP BOBJ Data Services (BODS).
Scripting experience (Python/Unix) for automating data tasks.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
