Role: Azure Solutions Architect and Administrator

Position Overview
Under the direction of DFA, the Azure Solutions Architect will serve as the primary architect for the agency s Azure cloud initiatives. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing the adoption of Microsoft Azure public cloud solutions, establishing cloud strategy and governance policies, and leading enterprise workload migrations from on-premises environments to Azure.
A key focus area includes planning and executing the migration of enterprise systems, including the state payroll system (SPAHRS), currently operating on zLinux mainframes, into secure, scalable, and compliant Azure cloud platforms.
This position is both strategic and hands-on, requiring expertise in enterprise architecture design, cloud implementation, governance, DevOps, and knowledge transfer.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the lead architect for DFA s Azure cloud transformation initiatives.
Design and implement Azure-based IaaS and PaaS solutions aligned with enterprise standards.
Develop and execute cloud adoption strategies following the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework.
Lead migration of on-premises and mainframe (zLinux) workloads to Azure.
Architect hybrid cloud integrations and containerized workloads.
Implement automation for provisioning, configuration management, and lifecycle management.
Establish and enforce cloud governance, security, privacy, and compliance policies.
Utilize Azure DevOps (Boards, Pipelines, Test Plans) for CI/CD and quality assurance.
Provide expertise in Windows Server (2019, 2022, 2025) and Linux (Red Hat, SUSE, zLinux).
Collaborate with technical and administrative teams to ensure seamless cloud adoption.
Develop documentation and provide structured knowledge transfer to DFA staff.
Ensure long-term sustainability and operational readiness of cloud services.
Required Qualifications (Mandatory)
Bachelor s degree (4-year) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
5+ years of direct experience creating Azure environments and migrating systems from on-premises to cloud.
5+ years of experience as an Azure Solutions Architect.
5+ years of DevOps engineering experience.
5+ years of experience driving cloud security, privacy, and compliance decisions.
5+ years of network administration experience.
Advanced experience with:
Windows Server (2019, 2022, 2025)
Azure Architecture & Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework
Azure DevOps (Pipelines, Boards, Test Plans).
