Description & Requirements
The Analytics Platform group is responsible for the core data and analytics services that provide a single point of entry for Bloomberg Terminal and Enterprise applications to access all types of Bloomberg data. Our systems serve hundreds of billions of requests per day and operate across thousands of machines. With the rapid growth of Bloomberg's Enterprise products and increasing data volume, our infrastructure continues to expand at an exceptional pace.
The Data Gateway is the backbone of the Bloomberg application stack. It is widely used across the company and handles 600+ billion requests daily. As demand increases, we are re-architecting major components of this system to support future scalability, reliability, and performance needs.
Our new architecture follows an API Gateway pattern, integrating with hundreds of data-provider microservices. To support this transformation, we are building Gateway as a Managed Service, running on a large shared compute fleet and delivering essential platform capabilities including: Intelligent request routing, Traffic isolation, Authentication and authorization, Multi-layered caching, Fairness and load balancing, Request shaping, Transparent observability and client SDKs and tooling.
The platform must scale to serve billions of requests from thousands of applications. Our biggest challenge is engineering the system to be resilient against unpredictable client load, downstream service latency, and system failures-while automatically isolating problematic behavior and continuing to serve requests reliably.
What's in it for you:
