Summary

Overview

The Atlassian Platform Engineer will support enterprise-level Jira and Confluence administration for a high-visibility national security mission. This is a hands-on engineering and operations role that is critical to modernizing and scaling collaboration platforms across multi-enclave, high-security environments.

This role will partner closely with mission stakeholders, security, IT, and operations teams to deliver resilient, secure, and high-performing Atlassian solutions that enable federal public safety and national security objectives. This role requires an Atlassian expert who is equally comfortable administering platforms, solving complex problems, and collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

This position aligns with Cayuse's core values of Innovation, Excellence, Collaboration, Adaptability, and Integrity by fostering technical solutions that meet customer needs, promoting teamwork, and prioritizing quality in deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and scale Jira, Confluence, Jira Service Management (JSM), and Crowd to support daily enterprise operations across multiple enclaves.
  • Design, configure, and optimize workflows, fields, screens, schemes, dashboards, reports, templates, and permission models to support mission-specific and enterprise-wide use cases.
  • Manage and govern Atlassian Marketplace apps, including installation, configuration, upgrades, license management, troubleshooting, and performance validation.
  • Oversee access and identity management across Atlassian platforms, including configuration of Crowd, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), and SSO/SAML integrations in alignment with security and identity policies.
  • Own day-to-day platform operations, including upgrades, patches, configuration changes, deployments, backups, log management, and monitoring.
  • Implement and tune monitoring, alerting, and logging to proactively identify and resolve performance, stability, and capacity issues.
  • Partner with infrastructure and security teams to validate high availability, disaster recovery, and backup/restore strategies for Atlassian environments.
  • Triage and resolve support tickets, ranging from standard access requests to complex configuration and workflow changes.
  • Provide tier 2/3 support for Jira, Confluence, JSM, and Crowd-related incidents and service requests.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge articles, how-to guides, and training materials that enable self-service and reduce ticket volume.
  • Engage directly with mission teams to understand requirements and translate them into scalable, supportable tool configurations.
  • Support federal compliance needs, including FISMA/ATO-related documentation, audit support, and configuration baselines in accordance with security and governance requirements.
  • Ensure Atlassian configurations, integrations, and plugins adhere to security controls, least privilege, data protection, and logging requirements.
  • Contribute to and enforce standards, patterns, guardrails, and best practices for Atlassian usage across the enterprise.
  • Collaborate with Agile, DevSecOps, and mission delivery teams to configure Atlassian tools that align with Agile/SAFe frameworks, ceremonies, and reporting structures.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance automation, workflow efficiency, and user experience across Jira, Confluence, and JSM.
  • Participate in roadmap planning for Atlassian platforms, including feature evaluation, capacity planning, and migration or modernization initiatives.
