The Epic Application Analyst supports the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of Epic software applications across clinical and operational environments. This role partners with clinical, operational, and technical stakeholders to support system optimization, workflow improvements, application stability, and high-quality patient care.

Purpose
The Epic Application Analyst supports the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of Epic software applications. This role collaborates with clinical and operational teams to analyze workflows, design system solutions, and ensure reliable application performance while supporting organizational initiatives, operational excellence, and high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities
Application Implementation and Support
Analyze clinical, business, and technical processes to develop effective system solutions
Configure, build, implement, maintain, and optimize Epic applications supporting clinical and operational workflows
Manage application implementations, upgrades, and enhancement projects
Provide technical and application support to clinical users, operational staff, and Information Technology teams
Workflow Analysis and Optimization
Conduct workflow analysis to identify opportunities for operational improvement
Design and implement application solutions that support departmental and organizational needs
Collaborate with operational stakeholders to prioritize application enhancements
Recommend workflow improvements that increase efficiency, user satisfaction, and system utilization
System Maintenance and Troubleshooting
Maintain and support installed Epic application software
Perform debugging, testing, implementation, and maintenance of software modules
Troubleshoot application issues and coordinate timely resolution
Ensure all application changes comply with established change management procedures
Documentation and Training
Create and maintain documentation for assigned Epic applications
Develop, coordinate, and execute testing plans for supported applications
Partner with IT educators to update training plans, educational materials, and technical documentation
Maintain accurate documentation supporting application maintenance and optimization
Customer and Vendor Liaison
Serve as liaison between Information Technology, vendors, clinical users, and operational stakeholders
Participate in production support activities during implementations and upgrades
Provide project management support as required
Maintain productive relationships with vendors and business partners to support application performance and issue resolution
Marginal or Periodic Functions
Mentor junior analysts and provide guidance as assigned
Participate in an on-call rotation supporting enterprise clinical applications
Travel occasionally to support users, implementations, training, and organizational initiatives
Perform related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Technical Expertise
Analyze, configure, and modify Epic software applications
Diagnose and resolve complex application issues
Design effective technical solutions while maintaining system integrity
Apply healthcare IT principles and Epic application support best practices
Project Management
Manage application upgrades and assigned projects
Develop project timelines and coordinate technical resources
Monitor progress and ensure project milestones are achieved
Balance multiple priorities while meeting organizational deadlines
Workflow Analysis
Analyze clinical and operational workflows
Identify opportunities for workflow optimization and system improvements
Collaborate with providers, operational leaders, and Information Technology teams to implement effective solutions
Support continuous optimization of Epic application functionality
Communication
Serve as liaison between Information Technology, vendors, clinical users, and operational partners
Facilitate meetings and communicate technical information clearly and effectively
Provide project updates and resolve communication issues
Build productive working relationships across multidisciplinary teams
Documentation
Develop and maintain comprehensive application documentation
Create clear technical instructions, testing documentation, and user guides
Maintain current application records and supporting materials
Ensure documentation remains accurate, organized, and accessible
Required Qualifications
Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
Minimum of two years of experience in application support, healthcare IT, or a related technical environment
Experience supporting, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting enterprise software applications
Experience collaborating with clinical, operational, and technical stakeholders to support application optimization and workflow improvements
Knowledge of healthcare information technology principles, software development, and systems analysis
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities while working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Master?s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
Minimum of four years of experience supporting healthcare IT or Epic systems
Experience supporting Epic applications within clinical or operational environments
Experience participating in Epic implementations, upgrades, optimizations, and workflow redesign initiatives
Experience collaborating with providers, operational leadership, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
Knowledge of healthcare workflows, change management, and application lifecycle management
