Job Summary:

The Junior Satellite Engineer serves as a liaison between the Satellite Engineering Team and the Operations Control Center.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Understand bus subsystem designs for each Globalstar satellite bus.
  • Interface with satellite communications payloads.
  • Regularly interact with Satellite Engineering team with a goal of understanding all technical aspects of the spacecraft design, as it relates to successful satellite operations.
  • Work closely with operations teams to develop and ensure satellite capability to safely provide service.

Skills and Competencies:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interact clearly and concisely with all departments and levels of management
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention-to-detail
  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with NetSuite
  • Ability to understand our satellite operation, with a sufficiently broad or narrow view as necessary, to detect problems and act accordingly
  • Self-motivated, driven person who can work with fellow members of the Satellite Engineering Team as well as with Network Operations Center (NOC) operators
  • Strong team collaboration and communication skills
  • Ability to define and document solutions to complex problems and to convey solutions to senior management
  • Ability to work with multiple engineering disciplines to identify technical product characteristics to develop requirements specifications

Education, Experience, and Licenses/Certifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field and/or equivalent experience in a Satellite Operations Control Center environment

Physical Requirements:
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed
  • Willingness and ability to work after regularly scheduled hours as needed
  • Ability to sit at a desk for prolonged periods working on a computer (4 to 8 hours)
  • Ability to operate the equipment used for the job
  • Ability to lift 15 pounds at times
