Overview

We are seeking a Technical Team Lead to support federal government programs by leading the design, development, and delivery of scalable data and analytics solutions in a cloud-based environment. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with Agile delivery ownership, ensuring high-quality, timely execution across cross-functional teams.

The Technical Team Lead serves as the primary technical point of contact for the team, translating business requirements into actionable tasks, guiding implementation, and ensuring alignment between technical solutions and delivery objectives.

Location

This is a hybrid role requiring regular onsite presence in the Washington, DC Metro area to support client collaboration and program activities. Remote work flexibility may be available when not required onsite.

What You Will Do
  • Lead a cross-functional Agile team (pod) of engineers, analysts, and testers to deliver data and analytics solutions
  • Guide the design, development, and implementation of solutions using AWS and Databricks
  • Act as the primary technical point of contact, ensuring alignment with architecture, requirements, and delivery goals
  • Translate business and technical requirements into actionable development tasks and sprint deliverables
  • Participate in hands-on development activities, including coding, architecture reviews, and troubleshooting
  • Manage Agile delivery processes including sprint planning, backlog refinement, progress tracking, and sprint reviews
  • Own delivery outcomes, ensuring solutions meet quality standards, timelines, and acceptance criteria
  • Oversee development of data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and data integration across enterprise systems
  • Ensure adherence to data architecture principles, including data modeling, data warehousing, and data lake design
  • Support CI/CD processes and automated deployments in coordination with DevSecOps teams
  • Identify, manage, and resolve technical risks, issues, and dependencies impacting delivery
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to team members to ensure consistent and high-quality execution
  • Collaborate with program leadership and stakeholders to provide status updates, resolve issues, and support delivery reporting

What You Will Bring
  • U.S. Citizenship required due to federal contract requirements
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
  • Candidate must reside in the U.S. and be able to support onsite work in the Reston, VA area as needed
  • Candidate must have lived in the U.S. for three (3) full years out of the last five (5) years
  • 6+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or related technical roles

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience supporting federal government clients, particularly DHS or similar agencies
  • 6+ years of experience leading Agile teams and managing sprint-based delivery
  • 3+ years of strong proficiency in Python and SQL
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with AWS services (e.g., S3, Glue, Lambda, Redshift, RDS or similar)
  • 3+ years of strong experience with Databricks and Apache Spark or similar distributed data platforms
  • 3+ years of experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Git, Jenkins or similar) and deployment processes
  • Strong understanding of data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and data integration solutions
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and data lake architecture
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues across development and production environments
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate across technical teams and stakeholders
  • Certifications (Strongly Preferred)
    • AWS Certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics - Specialty, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional)
    • Databricks Certifications (e.g., Databricks Certified Data Engineer Associate, Databricks Certified Machine Learning Associate)
    • Agile Certifications (e.g., Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Certified Scrum Professional (CSP), PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP))

  • Strong client-facing skills with the ability to operate effectively in high-pressure delivery environments
  • Ability to manage team delivery, priorities, and expectations across multiple stakeholders
  • Experience supporting program-level reporting, status updates, and coordination with program management
