Description
The Residence Inn by Marriott Philadelphia/Glen Mills is currently hiring a Chief Engineer. The hotel chief engineer is the head of the property's maintenance department who manages the physical building, safety systems, and mechanical equipment. They report directly to the general manager and ensure the hotel runs safely and smoothly for every guest.
Responsibilities
Building Maintenance: Oversees repairs for plumbing, electrical, and heating and cooling (HVAC) systems.
Preventative Care: Creates and tracks schedules to inspect guest rooms, kitchen equipment, and public areas before things break down.
Safety and Codes: Tests fire alarms, life safety systems, and emergency gear to meet local, state, and federal laws.
Team Leadership: Hires, trains, and manages maintenance staff and outside contractors.
Budget Management: Controls annual spending for repairs, tools, energy projects, and supplies.
Qualifications
Technical Knowledge: Strong background in trades like HVAC, electrical work, plumbing, and blueprint reading.
Experience: Usually requires at least two years of hands-on maintenance work, often with prior supervisory experience.
Certifications: Many properties require specific licenses, HVAC certifications, or credentials like those from the Certified Chief Engineer (CCE) Program.
Physical Ability: Must be able to lift heavy items, stand for long hours, and respond quickly during building emergencies.
