Tier 1 Network Monitor

Location: Hampton, Virginia (On-site)

Role Overview

This position supports the 24/7 operations of a client's enterprise network. The network monitor will join a team responsible for the mission management and operations of a global enterprise, providing Tier 1 network monitoring, operational support, and help desk services. The role involves working flexible shifts to ensure continuous coverage.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct fault management to detect, isolate, and correct network and system anomalies on a 24/7 basis.
  • Monitor all network nodes for operational integrity and respond to trouble calls.
  • Initiate and maintain trouble tickets and logs to document anomalies and corrective actions.
  • Populate and examine trouble logs for troubleshooting and to capture metrics for trend analysis.
  • Provide technical support to resolve problems or escalate issues to the appropriate level.
  • Monitor and administer network tools for troubleshooting and performance analysis.
  • Log all network issues using the approved system of record for problem and maintenance tracking.
  • Provide technical support in data network planning, engineering, and design.
  • Report all trouble calls upon receipt and provide hourly updates until resolution.
  • Provide quarterly metrics illustrating trends and workload.
  • Manage network architecture and data traffic routing for ISR data on the Wide Area Network (WAN).
  • Detect network faults and initiate restoral actions for circuits, trunks, and equipment.
  • Perform activities such as provisioning bandwidth and preparing and testing circuits.
Required Qualifications

Experience: A minimum of two to three years of experience in IT or enterprise network management is required.

Technical Skills: Candidates must possess an IAT Level II certification (such as Security+). Demonstrated knowledge of network monitoring tools, routing, and switching is also required.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, on-site position located at Langley AFB. The role requires flexibility to work various shifts, including day, night, and weekend rotations. Shifts are typically structured as four 10-hour workdays. Shift schedules rotate monthly and between day/night every four months.
