Job Description: 
We are supporting an enterprise migration from SharePoint 2016 (on-prem) to SharePoint Online (SPO). This is a well-structured environment with documented processes already in place this resource will be focused on execution, troubleshooting, and post-migration work rather than building from scratch.
 Project Snapshot

• ~290 total sites across all migration stages

• 33 sites remaining to be migrated

• Additional post-migration work across previously migrated sites (validation, permissions cleanup, redirects, UAT, decommissioning)

• Team operates off a Migration Tracker Guide   this is the playbook for execution

• Hard deadline: June 30   this is a fast-paced, execution-driven environment

Technical Environment

• Source: SharePoint 2016 (heavily customized, includes third-party integrations)

• Target: SharePoint Online (standardized, minimal customization)

• Migration Tool: ShareGate (must be hands-on)

• Cloud Platform: Microsoft 365 / Azure

• Identity Layer: Azure AD / Entra ID

Scope of Work

• Core Responsibilities

• Complete remaining SharePoint migrations using ShareGate

• Execute post-migration activities:

• Data validation (content, metadata, permissions)

• URL redirects

• Permissions cleanup

• UAT support

• Decommissioning legacy sites

• Troubleshoot migration failures, performance issues, and data inconsistencies

• Execute migrations aligned to business priorities and timelines (cutovers, phased deployment, etc.)

• Technical Execution

• Use PowerShell for:

• Automation

• Bulk operations

• Metadata mapping

• Permissions scripting

• Reporting/validation

• Support SharePoint Online administration:

• Site collections

• Permissions and governance

• Assist with SharePoint development / modernization:

• Modern page builds

• Web part configuration

• Reworking heavily customized 2016 sites into cleaner SPO structure

Must-Have Skills

• SharePoint Migration Experience

• Specifically 2016   SharePoint Online (or similar on-prem   cloud migration)

• Strong understanding of site structures, lists, libraries, and metadata

• ShareGate

• Hands-on execution at enterprise scale (not just familiarity)

• Ability to configure, run, validate, and troubleshoot migrations

• PowerShell

• Scripting for automation, permissions, bulk operations, and migration support

• SharePoint Online

• Modern architecture (site collections, permissions, governance)

• SharePoint Security & Permissions

• Experience with both on-prem and SPO permission models

• Ability to analyze and remediate complex permission structures

• Migration Execution & Strategy

• Experience with phased migrations, delta syncs, cutovers, and validation

• Strong troubleshooting and issue resolution skills

• Azure / Entra ID

• Understanding of identity and access management in M365

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Power Platform

• Power Automate (workflow replacement)

• Power Apps (InfoPath/form modernization)
