Distributed Systems Architect - Spanner Data Architecture
About the Role

Lead the target-state data architecture for Google Spanner, ensuring the new model meets correctness, performance, and transactional requirements for 1,000+ applications. This is a distributed systems architecture role-not schema conversion.
Responsibilities

Define the Logical Canonical Data Model (LCDM).
Design Spanner-native physical schemas (row-key strategy, interleaving, indexes).
Determine denormalization, projections, and materialized views.
Define transaction boundaries, consistency models, and retry-safe patterns.
Classify workloads for strong consistency vs. bounded staleness.
Validate CRUD contracts, query semantics, and transaction invariants.
Review schema compatibility and sign-off scorecards.
Analyze workload replays and resolve hot keys, conflicts, and index amplification.
Size Spanner instances and estimate cost envelopes.

Minimum Qualifications

10+ years in large-scale data architecture.
Deep expertise in Google Spanner internals (TrueTime, distributed transactions, synchronous replication).
Experience with petabyte-scale, multi-region OLTP systems and distributed consistency models.
Strong background in Oracle ? distributed DB migrations.

Transaction design guidelines
Performance and migration readiness assessments
