A globally leading consumer device company based in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking an Engineering Lab Technician responsible for test equipment setup, tear down, maintenance, data collection, and logistics. The customer service technician ensures the engineering service request operates reliably and satisfies the customer''s end-use requirements. Experience working with customers and managing the interaction is essential.
Responsibilities:
• Perform test board and equipment setup, deployment, redeployment, tear down, maintenance, troubleshooting, data collection, and logistics in support of engineering test activities.
• Maintain lab standards by ensuring a safe, clean, and organized environment, including equipment inventory, calibration, maintenance, ESD compliance, and monitoring calibration status and expired materials.
• Collect and track data for critical lab metrics and report progress as required.
• Configure, install, repair, troubleshoot, and test electro-mechanical components and semi-complex assemblies using BOMs, schematics, drawings, wiring diagrams, and other technical documentation.
• Read, interpret, and follow written instructions, schematics, diagrams, manufacturing procedures, and internal checklists to perform self-inspections and ensure quality standards are met.
• Identify, document, and communicate problems, recommend documentation updates where applicable, and escalate issues to supervisors when necessary.
• Demonstrate strong attention to detail and proficiency in English, including reading, writing, and verbal communication.
• Respond promptly to customer inquiries and acknowledge and resolve
customer issues.
Key qualifications:
• Associate or Bachelor''s Degree in a Tech-related Major or 4+ years of
equivalent experience in a Lab or customer service in a data center
environment or field service technician.
• Ability to solder and rework PCBA components SMT, Through holes,
wires, terminal and fine pitch parts.
• Experience with environmental chamber operation and support.
• Basic understanding of MS Office, PDFs, and the ability to read basic
schematic, BOM, and documentation.
• Understanding basic electronics and knowledge of lab equipment
(Oscilloscopes, DMM, signal generator, signal analyzer) is helpful.
• The ability to read schematics and set up various cable connectivity types
to test equipment and DUT is a plus.
• Basic user-level understanding of Unix/Windows and Networking with
Enterprise Switches and Routers is a plus.
• General test instrumentation hardware and software knowledge is a plus.
• The ability to occasionally lift 50 lbs of equipment set up on the bench
