Mainframe API Architect (z/OS Integration)
JD
A developer who modernizes mainframe systems by turning them into APIs and integrating them with modern applications. Hands-on experience with IBM z/OS Connect Designer, API toolkit, or Visual Studio Code tools for generating provider/requester projects and language structures.
Working knowledge of z/OS application environments such as CICS, IMS, Db2, COBOL, and PL/I.
zOS Connect experience Strong understanding of REST APIs, OpenAPI 3.0, and API lifecycle design.
Ability to map mainframe data structures to JSON and back, using tools such as JSONata or the built-in mapping functions.
Familiarity with mainframe security concepts such as authentication, authorization, and API gateway-style controls.
Basic understanding of JCL, datasets, batch jobs, and z/OS development workflows is helpful for troubleshooting and deployment.
