Fabrication Project Manager

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Fabrication Project Manager to oversee industrial fabrication projects from inception to completion. In this pivotal role, you will coordinate engineering, procurement, production, quality control, scheduling, and customer communication to ensure that projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and according to customer specifications. Your leadership will be essential in managing multiple projects simultaneously and maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.

Responsibilities
  • Manage fabrication projects from contract award through final shipment, ensuring safety, schedule adherence, budget compliance, and customer specifications are met.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients and internal stakeholders, fostering effective communication.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, progress reports, and executive updates.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, schedule impacts, and cost overruns by implementing corrective actions.
  • Review contracts, fabrication drawings, Bills of Material (BOMs), specifications, and project requirements before fabrication begins.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to resolve drawing discrepancies, RFIs, and fabrication issues.
  • Coordinate with fabrication management, shop foremen, QA/QC, procurement, and logistics to optimize production workflow and shop efficiency.
  • Monitor fabrication progress, labor productivity, costs, and schedule status to ensure profitability and on-time delivery.
  • Oversee material procurement, managing steel, pipe, fittings, valves, structural components, and specialty materials to prevent shortages and delays.
  • Ensure compliance with customer specifications and industry standards such as AWS, ASME, API, and AISC.
  • Coordinate inspections, testing, NCRs, corrective actions, and project closeout activities.
  • Manage logistics, including hydrotesting, dimensional inspections, coating, packaging, shipping, and Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs).
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, and change orders.
  • Participate in project kickoff, production, customer, and executive meetings to promote continuous improvement initiatives, safety, quality, cost control, and customer satisfaction.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Welding Technology, Manufacturing Management, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience managing industrial fabrication, structural steel fabrication, pressure vessel fabrication, pipe fabrication, modular construction, or heavy industrial manufacturing projects. Equivalent education and experience will be considered.
  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Strong understanding of fabrication processes related to structural steel, piping, pressure vessels, and miscellaneous steel.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting fabrication drawings, isometrics, P&IDs, BOMs, weld symbols, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Experience managing fabrication schedules, production priorities, and shop workflows.
  • Working knowledge of welding procedures, quality control standards, and fabrication tolerances.
  • Familiarity with procurement, material tracking, inventory management, and production planning.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Outlook, Word, and Teams.
  • Ability to work in a construction environment, with the physical capacity to lift up to 50 pounds, climb, stoop, kneel, and navigate in possibly humid or noisy conditions.
  • Valid work authorization and willingness to travel as needed.
  • Certifications related to industry standards or project management are a plus.
