Summary

Description

The Staff Pipeline Engineer will work on project teams to create world-class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments for a variety of pipeline projects, including transmission pipelines, distribution systems, and pipeline facilities. The Staff Pipeline Engineer will work with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting pipeline plans according to budget constraints, design factors, or client needs while supporting project execution from conceptual design through construction.
  • Perform pipeline engineering and design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion.
  • Modify and review production drawings for a variety of projects, including transmission pipelines, distribution systems, meter and regulating stations, compressor stations, storage facilities, and associated pipeline infrastructure.
  • Design pipeline systems, facilities, and components to meet project requirements established by the project managers.
  • Apply strong knowledge of commonly used pipeline engineering and design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the pipeline engineering services industry.
  • Perform engineering calculations, prepare studies and technical reports, develop specifications, and assess the feasibility of engineering solutions when data is limited or additional evaluation is required.
  • Coordinate with survey, geotechnical, permitting, land acquisition, and other engineering disciplines to support project execution.
  • Update drawings provided by senior engineers and verify that corrections are incorporated within multiple CAD software platforms.
  • Compile information for client presentations, shop drawing review, procurement support, factory acceptance testing, and contract administration.
  • Assist in developing conceptual designs, execution plans, engineering cost estimates, project schedules, and project scopes.
  • Support procurement activities through the preparation of material and equipment specifications and the review of vendor documentation.
  • Perform field inspections, site visits, construction support, measurements, and engineering calculations for public and private clients.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including Pipeline Facilities, Civil/Structural, Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls, Environmental, and Construction personnel.
  • Support business development activities, including proposal preparation, scope development, and client communications.
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and technical support to less experienced engineers and designers.
  • Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes, tools, and work practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program and 3 years of pipeline engineering experience required. Consulting preferred.
  • Or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering Technology or related degree from an ABET-accredited program, successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, and 3 years of pipeline engineering experience required. Consulting preferred.
  • Or Master's Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering and 2 years of pipeline engineering experience required. Consulting preferred.
  • Strong knowledge in standard pipeline engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment, and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
  • Strong computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Strong computer skills (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation, ATF).
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Engineers in Training-EIT Certification preferred.
