Our client, working with NYS’s Department of State and Medicaid CIO, is seeking an experienced Agile Project Manager to drive organizational change, optimize workflows, and support adoption of product-oriented operating models within a complex government setting.
About the Role
As an integral part of the project team, the Agile Project Manager will lead efforts to define, implement, and support Agile and product-led operating models across multiple teams. This role involves engaging closely with clients to facilitate Agile practices, managing demand intake and priority-setting processes, and supporting the adoption of SDLC and other IT governance frameworks. The ideal candidate will demonstrate high ownership, exceptional client engagement skills, and a proactive approach to guiding organizations through their Agile transformation journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and facilitate Agile training sessions, workshops, and ongoing coaching for client teams and stakeholders.
- Support the development and maturation of Agile product operating models within the client organization.
- Design and implement demand intake processes and IT initiative prioritization frameworks aligned with client goals.
- Assist in establishing and supporting SDLC adoption, ensuring Agile ways of working are embedded across IT teams.
- Enhance IT governance practices, including intake procedures, architecture reviews, release management, and incident response protocols.
- Provide strategic guidance on Agile best practices, including backlog management, sprint planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with client leadership and technical teams to ensure smooth implementation and integration of new processes.
- Travel as needed to client sites, including monthly visits to Albany, NY, to facilitate in-person sessions and stakeholder engagement.
- Support change management efforts, ensuring successful adoption and sustained Agile maturity across teams.
- Contribute to ongoing process improvement initiatives and share industry best practices.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- 7+ years experience defining or supporting an Agile / product-led operating model
- 7+ years experience standing up demand intake and IT initiative prioritization processes
- 7+ years experience supporting SDLC adoption and Agile ways of working
- Experience improving IT governance, including intake, architecture review, release management, or incident management
- 3+ years experience of healthcare experience, ideally with Medicaid or related
- 2+ years NY State government experience
Desirable Qualifications:
- Formal training or certification in Agile methodologies is preferred.
- Consulting experience with strong client-facing skills
- Experience leading Agile trainings or working on Agile teams in a product operating model
Educational & Certification Requirements: - Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or related field. Relevant certifications such as PMP, Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), or SAFe Agilist are advantageous.
- Formal training or certification in Agile methodologies is preferred.
