Weston is seeking an IT Support Specialist (Emergency Response Operations) to provide critical technical support for the EPA Region 6 Emergency Response Operations Center (REOC). This role serves as the primary on-site IT resource supporting emergency response personnel, field staff, and incident operations. The successful candidate will provide hands-on support for computer systems, mobile devices, communications equipment, and software applications while ensuring users can effectively perform mission-critical response activities. This position requires a versatile technical professional who can independently troubleshoot and resolve issues in both office and field environments, including occasional after-hours support during emergency response events.

Location: Dallas, TX

Responsibilities and Expected Outcomes:
  • Provide technical support for EPA staff and emergency response personnel utilizing Windows-based systems, laptops, mobile devices, and communications equipment.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, operating system, connectivity, and performance-related issues.
  • Configure, deploy, image, and maintain laptop computers and mobile devices in accordance with client standards.
  • Support remote users operating from response sites, disaster locations, remote offices, hotels, and other field environments.
  • Provide technical support for iPhones, iPads, cellular hotspots, and related mobile technologies.
  • Support communications and collaboration technologies including teleconferencing equipment, satellite communications devices, Starlink systems, and other field-deployed technologies.
  • Research and resolve complex technical issues that require analysis beyond standard support procedures.
  • Coordinate with EPA IT personnel, help desk resources, and infrastructure teams to escalate and resolve issues as needed.
  • Maintain readiness of response technology equipment to support emergency response operations.
  • Provide after-hours support during emergency response activations and critical operational events when required.
  • Deliver responsive customer service and clear technical guidance to users with varying levels of technical proficiency.
  • Maintain accurate records of support activities, equipment status, and issue resolution.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of IT support, desktop support, help desk, or systems administration experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems, including system configuration, troubleshooting, performance optimization, and diagnostics.
  • Experience supporting Dell laptop computers and related peripheral devices.
  • Experience deploying, imaging, and maintaining workstation systems using enterprise imaging tools such as Microsoft SCCM/Configuration Manager or similar technologies.
  • Experience supporting Apple mobile devices including iPhones and iPads.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network connectivity, and application issues.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to independently troubleshoot unique technical challenges.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Ability to provide occasional after-hours support during emergency response operations.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting personnel in field environments, emergency response operations, or other mission-critical settings.
  • Experience with teleconferencing systems, cellular communications technologies, satellite phones, Starlink, or similar communications equipment.
  • Experience supporting Adobe products and other common business applications.
  • Prior experience supporting federal, state, or local government clients.
  • Familiarity with EPA operations, emergency management, or disaster response environments.
  • Knowledge of the Stafford Act and related federal emergency response responsibilities.

Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors.

Salary Range: $45,374 - $59,489 - $73,499
