Position Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Calibration Engineer to support European platforms (VW, Audi, Porsche, BMW) across the full product lifecycle-from vehicle testing and calibration to software support and product release.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about automotive performance and real-world problem solving. The engineer will work closely with calibration, software, and mechanical teams to develop high-performance, reliable, and repeatable aftermarket solutions using OEM engine management systems.

Key Responsibilities
Develop and validate engine calibrations for turbocharged and naturally aspirated gasoline engines using OEM ECUs
Perform vehicle and chassis dynamometer testing, including setup, operation, and data collection
Calibrate EFI systems to meet performance, drivability, reliability, and emissions targets
Analyze test data to diagnose issues and optimize calibration strategies
Support software integration, calibration management, and product releases
Develop and maintain calibration files for European vehicle platforms
Troubleshoot and resolve calibration or system-related issues in existing products
Utilize internal and third-party tools for calibration, data acquisition, and analysis
Create and improve testing procedures, tools, and best practices
Generate and present technical reports and documentation
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams
Maintain calibration equipment and ensure dyno/test areas are organized and safe
Support compliance with applicable emissions standards
Participate in additional projects as assigned

Required Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field OR minimum 1+ year of experience in gasoline EFI calibration
Strong understanding of internal combustion engine theory and operation
Experience with vehicle instrumentation, data acquisition, and calibration tools
Experience with vehicle flashing/programming tools and processes
Hands-on experience with dynamometer testing (setup, operation, vehicle handling)
Ability to analyze data and troubleshoot calibration or system issues
Proficiency with standard PC software (e.g., Excel, data analysis tools)
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and within a team
Valid driver's license and ability to be insured

Preferred Qualifications & Experience
Experience with ECU calibration on European platforms (Bosch MED17, MG1, Simos, etc.)
Transmission calibration experience (ZF8, DSG/DL501)
Experience with decompilation/disassembly tools (IDA Pro, Ghidra)
Experience with hex editing tools (WinOLS, Hex Workshop, etc.)
Familiarity with databases and data formats (SQL, SQLite, XML)
Experience with hybrid or advanced powertrain systems
Hands-on experience building or modifying performance vehicles
Strong passion for automotive performance and aftermarket tuning

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Combination of office, dyno lab, and warehouse environments
Exposure to varying temperatures and occasional loud noise
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs., stand for extended periods, and work on a computer for long durations
Ability to operate in a hands-on automotive testing environment
