Interactive Tableau Dashboard and Data System Creation

1. Background

California Association of Food Banks is a mission-driven organization dedicated to ending hunger in California. We are seeking a consultant who has expertise in dashboard creation and developing data systems and who will work collaboratively with us to design solutions that meet our needs. If we develop a strong working relationship, and mutually agreed upon, we anticipate additional dashboard and data-related projects for the consultant.

We are requesting proposals to design and implement:

1. A system to collect and securely store proprietary data from multiple external partners (e.g., food banks, other nonprofit organizations, etc.)
2. An interactive Tableau dashboard to display key metrics related to the need for food assistance, incorporating multiple sources of publicly available data, to use as a decision-making and communication tool.

2. Scope of Work

Proprietary Data Collection and Storage

• Design a secure and cost-effective data storage solution
• Develop automated processes for data ingestion and updates for up to 5 key metrics (e.g., food bank web page views, helpline calls, people served, etc.)
• Ensure data quality, documentation, and sustainability for a small, non-technical internal team

Interactive Tableau Dashboard

• Integrate multiple sources of data for inclusion in dashboard
• Develop an intuitive dashboard with filters and drill-down functionality
• Include clear, accessible visualizations suitable for non-technical audiences
• Align metrics with organizational goals and reporting needs
• Provide training and documentation to allow internal team to update and maintain dashboard

3. Deliverables

• Operational data collection and storage system
• Production-ready Tableau dashboard
• Documentation and data dictionary
• Staff training session(s)
• At least 30 days of post-launch support

4. Qualifications

• Experience working with nonprofits or mission-driven organizations
• Expertise in complex, interactive Tableau dashboard development
• Experience designing sustainable, cost-conscious data systems
• Strong data privacy and security practices
