Business Analyst

Location: Des Moines, IA

Work Arrangement: Hybrid (On-site 2-3 days per week required)

Key Responsibilities

• Requirement Gathering: Work directly with business leadership, SMEs, and technical partners to elicit, document, and manage requirements for complex Iowa applications.
• Agile Documentation: Create and maintain user stories, acceptance criteria, and design documents using ALM tools.
• Process Optimization: Document, trace, and prioritize changes to business practices, workflows, and system processes.
• Project Support: Act as a project manager or QA analyst for smaller initiatives; manage project statuses, risks, issues, and timelines.
• Data Analysis: Conduct research to query data (using SQL), analyze problems, and determine effective system solutions or redesigns.
• Governance: Operate strictly within established project governance structures and reporting methodologies.

Required Skills & Experience

• Large-Scale Systems: 8+ years of experience working on large, complex IT systems.
• Business Analysis Core: 8+ years eliciting requirements, writing user stories, defining acceptance criteria, and facilitating stakeholder communication.
• Methodology: 8+ years of experience with SDLC procedures and 6+ years specifically in Agile environments.
• Technical Proficiency: 8+ years of experience with Microsoft development platforms and software.
• ALM Tools: 5+ years with tools such as Azure DevOps (ADO), Jira, TFS, or RTC.
• Data Skills: 5+ years of working experience with Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio or similar relational database software.
• Architecture Familiarity: 3+ years of exposure to data modeling standards and architecture design/analysis.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in MIS, Business, or a related field (or 8 years of equivalent experience).
