Senior Associate, Data Sourcing & Strategy - Equities

The Senior Associate will be responsible for leading the data sourcing, support & content leadership efforts for the various Fundamental Equity teams at BAM. They will become the primary data liaison and work closely with internal and external stakeholders to onboard best in class datasets. They will partner with BAM Investment teams to provide proactive high touch data insights, establish data onboarding requirements, and develop a targeted data strategy - leveraging external and internal data sets. A background working for or with alternative data providers and strong knowledge across various sector data sets is required

Primary Responsibilities:
Developing a strong understanding of alternative data and downstream business processes and objectives to help advance data strategies that are aligned with business requirements
Drive the data scouting initiatives across sectors and build a robust pipeline of potential sector-specific datasets.
Combining deep data set knowledge, domain expertise, and industry exposure that would allow Investment teams to better understand, contextualize, and interpret data trends into their investment process
Maintain vendor relationships across a given coverage universe, assist in vendor contract management and renewals / negotiations
Assist on all alternative data projects/initiatives that each business unit requires and manage the project from beginning to end. Maintain detailed status on each project and required next steps to successfully deliver timely results
Coordinate the data onboarding process across the various internal teams (Legal, Compliance, Data Science, etc.)

Skills and Knowledge :
Minimum 4 years of alternative data experience at a vendor or financial services firm
Broad exposure and knowledge of alternative market data sets e.g. Consumer Transactions, Healthcare, etc. and utilization within the investment research process
Broad exposure across financial instruments and trading strategies
Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills and a strong customer focused approach
Strong understanding of regulatory requirements related to the usage of diverse data sources, ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices
Experience in contract management and negotiations
Proven strategic and tactical problem-solving skills
Proven collaborative attitude and ability to interface and maintain excellent working relationships with Front Office, Legal, Compliance, etc.
Ability to maintain the highest level of subject matter expertise across various sector datasets
