Position: Controls Engineer (Rockwell PLC)
Location: Toledo, OH 43612 (Local candidates only)
Duration: 3+ Months Contract (Extension Possible)

 

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Controls Engineer with strong Rockwell PLC programming expertise for a project in Toledo, OH. The selected candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting, debugging, and optimizing machine sequences and recovery logic within conveyor-based automation systems.

This is not a GM project, so prior GM standards experience is not required. We are looking for someone with hands-on industrial automation experience who can quickly diagnose and resolve control system issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Debug and optimize existing Rockwell PLC programs.
  • Troubleshoot machine sequence and recovery logic.
  • Support commissioning and troubleshooting of automated conveyor systems.
  • Work with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) to resolve automation issues.
  • Diagnose electrical and control system problems to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to implement effective solutions.
  • Document programming changes and troubleshooting activities.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong experience programming and troubleshooting Rockwell PLCs (Allen-Bradley).
  • Hands-on experience with conveyor automation systems.
  • Experience working with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
  • Ability to debug machine sequencing and recovery logic.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in industrial automation environments.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Must be local to the Toledo, OH area (no travel or relocation expenses provided).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting manufacturing or industrial automation projects.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Previous commissioning or startup experience is a plus.
