SUMMARY

This position manages a team of IT security Technicians who ensure that systems, services and infrastructure work reliably and securely. The IT Security Manager is responsible for managing the day to day activities of the Security team as well as provide technical direction as required for projects and Audits.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Will be responsible for overseeing the security controls for the company.
  • Manage a team of IT security team members.
  • Responsible for architecting new security technologies.
  • Assign and track run and maintain tasks and project tasks to team members.
  • Provide training and experience to junior members of the team.
  • Maintain complex projects from beginning to end and interface with various teams as well as executives.
  • Maintain various security technologies.
    1. SIEM - Administer and respond to threats.
    2. Anti-Virus - Validate that products are behaving properly and keep them up to date.
    3. Approve VPN and firewall changes.
    4. Build policy and implementation around wired and wireless access.
    5. Encryption - Validate that all mobile systems are encrypted.
  • Automate tasks that are repetitive using various technologies (Perl/Python/PowerShell/PHP).
  • Maintain PCI compliance of the organization.
  • Maintain a vulnerability management program and work with team members to remediate issues found.
  • Assign risks to company assets and prioritize their resolution.
  • Build IT security policy, procedures and standards.
  • Maintain and enhance the security awareness program.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain IT policies, procedures and associated training plans for support administrators.
  • Plan, acquire, and coordinate the installation of "in-house" and remote software solutions and configurations across the organizations' network.
  • Negotiate with vendors and contractors to secure products and services.
  • Effectively deal with rapid change in a positive manner and lead staff through changing priorities.
  • Implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency of current operational procedures.
  • Coordinate relations with and serve as a liaison between business and IT staff.
  • Continually assess work processes and recommend changes which drive operational excellence.
  • Develop short-term and long-term department goals which support long-term strategic goals.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the department. Develop career plans for team members and recommend training and development areas.
  • Ensure the quality of work produced by the team is acceptable based on established standards.
  • Ensure the coordination and communication of production changes.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES
  • Prepare and maintain annual department budget.
  • Provide periodic employee performance reviews.
  • Hold team members accountable for meeting IT quality of work standards.
  • Ability to lead complex initiatives and project teams.
  • Ability to communicate topics and concepts to the team and a diverse audience.
  • Ability to handle multiple overlapping projects and competing deadlines within the team.
  • Strong time management, attention to detail and communications skills with the team.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and/or ABILITIES
  • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and personnel management skills.
  • Effectively communicate complex technological issues in business terms at any level within the organization.
  • Respond to customer inquiries, effectively communicate critical problems and discuss resolutions with management.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high pressure environment and make sound decisions in emergency situations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Education

    • Bachelor's degree in Business (or Management), Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience is required.
  • Experience
    • Experience in the Distribution industry.
    • 2+ years of management experience.
    • 5+ years of IT Security experience.
    • Knowledge of technical platforms and languages required for this position.
    • Knowledge of the windows operating environment.
