Summary

Position Title: Sr. Hardware Engineering Delivery Lead

Location: Durham, NC priority would be onsite and will cover relocation (10-20% Travel required for this role)

Duration: 6 months Contract-to-hire or Direct-hire

Scope (What s Driving the Need):

Client is expanding its Medication Management Solutions (MMS) division within the high-growth pharmacy automation space. As a global leader in pharmacy automation, Client is investing in Central Fill technologies to help healthcare systems improve efficiency, address clinician shortages, and reduce burnout.

This role will lead key New Product Development (NPD) initiatives within Client s Pharmacy Automation robotic portfolio, driving innovation across hardware systems such as dispensing robots, vial filling systems, pouch packagers, and enterprise pharmacy management technologies.

Main thrust of the role and tech stack Beckhoff PLC for Controls SW. Client uses Codesys 3.0 some of them have local firmware, local embedded PCBs. PCB Designer, Mechanical Engineer, developing robotics motor driven drive train system. Anyone with experience in pharmacy automation, robotics, conveyance, assembly Line, controls.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of hardware for Central Fill pharmacy automation products
  • Drive strategic hardware direction to improve customer efficiency and product performance
  • Provide technical leadership and daily guidance to cross-functional engineering teams
  • Collaborate with software, mechanical, electrical, and systems teams to define product architecture and roadmaps
  • Translate concepts into prototypes to validate feasibility and reduce risk
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks across development initiatives
  • Develop and manage product development plans, timelines, and budgets
  • Ensure alignment with quality systems, including design controls and lifecycle management
  • Apply best engineering practices across design, testing, simulation, and documentation
  • Utilize Design for Six Sigma methodologies and promote best-in-class R&D tools
  • Monitor field performance and conduct root cause analysis (RCA) on product issues
  • Communicate program progress, risks, and performance metrics to stakeholders
  • Mentor team members and support a data-driven engineering culture
  • Coordinate with global teams and external partners

Necessary Skills:

  • Bachelor s degree in engineering (or related field)
  • 7+ years of experience leading complex electro-mechanical product development
  • Experience managing cross-functional engineering teams (mechanical, electrical, software)
  • Strong background in automated equipment (robotics, conveyance systems, process control)
  • Knowledge of full product lifecycle development and quality management systems
  • Understanding of safety and regulatory standards for automated systems
  • Experience with project management methodologies (Agile and/or Waterfall)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills
  • Ability to work with global teams and external development partners
  • Willingness to travel 10 20%

Nice to Have:

  • Master s degree in engineering or related field
  • Experience with simulation and system modeling tools
  • Central Fill medication fulfillment experience
  • PMP Certification
