Under the direction of the Area Director of Engineering and Engineering Manager, the Engineer at Saint Kate is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on hotel facilities and equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. This role supports a high-quality guest experience through timely repairs, strong technical expertise, and strict adherence to safety standards.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
  • Perform preventive, routine, and emergency maintenance on building systems and equipment both internal and external.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and safety systems.
  • Complete work orders and perform daily shift reports accurately and in a timely manner, documenting all work performed.
  • Inspect guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces to identify and address maintenance needs.
  • Respond promptly to guest and associate requests and emergency situations.
  • Support the preventive maintenance program and ensure compliance with safety procedures.
  • Follow and adhere to all policies and procedures, including proper uniform attire, key control and OSHA standards and procedures.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized condition.
  • Coordinate with other departments to minimize operational and guest impact.
  • Follow all local, state, and federal safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform all other related duties and special projects as requested.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • 2-5 years of building maintenance or engineering experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Technical school or associate degree preferred.
  • Working knowledge of how to troubleshoot, repair and maintain the following:
    • HVAC and refrigeration
    • Electrical and mechanical systems and equipment
    • Plumbing systems and drains
    • Building structure, fixtures, and finishes (FF&E)
    • Fire alarm, life safety, and commercial kitchen equipment
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
  • Proficient in the safe use of hand and power tools.
  • Basic computer skills, including work order systems and email.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, lift, grasp, twist and stretch.
  • Ability to read and interpret manuals, schematics, and safety instructions.
  • Professional appearance and customer-service mindset.
  • Hotel or resort maintenance experience preferred.
  • Must be available to work 2nd shift, weekends and holidays.
