Historian Application Support Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Historian Application Support Engineer to provide application patching, troubleshooting, and operational support across 60+ Historian servers within a manufacturing/supply chain environment.

This role supports plant operations and central clusters by managing application updates, resolving support tickets, and ensuring reliable machine data flow from the factory floor through enterprise systems.

Key Responsibilities

🔹 Application Patching & Maintenance

• Perform application-level patching and testing for Historian systems

• Update dependent software (Java, Chrome, etc.)

• Manage Windows Services (start/stop services for patching)

• Configure application parameters using REGEDIT

• Apply and manage security certificates

• Troubleshoot installation and patching issues

• Coordinate patching during scheduled plant outages

Note: Server/OS/VMware patching is out of scope.

🔹 Application & Data Support

• Triage and resolve Historian-related support tickets

• Trace machine data flow from source systems to central Historian

• Restart Historian servers and collectors (local & central)

• Troubleshoot time-series database and driver package issues

• Diagnose firewall/connectivity issues and escalate appropriately

• Open and coordinate Digital application support tickets when required

• Support onboarding of new machines at plant sites

• Edit STATE tags using VB Script

Required Skills & Experience

• 6–8 years of IT/Application Support experience

• Strong Windows application patching experience

• Windows Services management

• REGEDIT configuration experience

• Security certificate management

• Experience with machine data and time-series systems

• Experience with:

  • Historian systems

  • IGS / KepServer

  • MTConnect (or equivalent time-series database)

• Ability to trace data flow across:
  Factory Floor → MTConnect → IGS → Local Historian → Central Historian → OPSVision

• Experience restarting collectors via Windows Services or Configuration Manager

• Strong troubleshooting skills across database, drivers, and firewall issues
