Remote Cloud Engineer

Title: Remote Cloud Engineer
Duration: 6 months/contract
EST/CST Candidate
AWS Environment Build & Maintenance 
Build, configure, and maintain AWS environments supporting HealthEdge's production, staging, and non-production workloads 
Execute lift-and-shift migrations for non-priority systems, ensuring environments are stable, documented, and operationally supportable post-migration 
Maintain environment consistency and configuration standards across AWS accounts and regions 
Perform routine environment health checks, patching, and maintenance activities 
Support capacity planning and resource right-sizing efforts across AWS environments 
Active Remediation Initiatives 
Contribute to the resolution of four immediate remediation areas currently in progress:  
Azure dependency removal — identify, document, and migrate or replace Azure-dependent components to AWS-native or approved alternatives 
Power BI integration — support the migration or re-integration of Power BI dependencies within the AWS environment 
JSON database field remediation — assist in identifying and resolving JSON database field compatibility issues affecting migrated workloads 
Regression suite migration — support the copy of regression test suite infrastructure to AWS, including scoping and provisioning the additional storage and pipeline capacity required 
Infrastructure-as-Code & Automation 

Collaboration & Operational Support 

Required Qualifications 
2–4 years of experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure engineering, or a related platform/systems role 
Hands-on experience building and maintaining AWS environments, including EC2, VPC, RDS, S3, IAM, and related services 
Experience with infrastructure-as-code tooling (Terraform, CloudFormation, or equivalent) 
Familiarity with lift-and-shift migration patterns and the operational considerations of migrating workloads to AWS 
Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (DNS, VPNs, load balancing, security groups) 
Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, ECS, or EKS) 
Proficiency with version control (Git) and collaborative development workflows 
Solid troubleshooting skills with a methodical, documentation-first approach to problem resolution 
Experience working in a HIPAA-regulated or compliance-driven environment 
Preferred Qualifications 
AWS certifications (Cloud Practitioner, SysOps Administrator, Solutions Architect, or equivalent) 
Experience migrating workloads from Azure to AWS, including dependency identification and remediation 
Familiarity with SQL Server or PostgreSQL database environments, including JSON field handling 
Experience with Power BI or similar BI tooling in a cloud-hosted context 
Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and build/deploy automation (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar) 
Experience in healthcare IT or payer technology environments
