About AACN The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) is the national voice for academic nursing. AACN works to establish quality standards for nursing education; assists schools in implementing those standards; influences the nursing profession to improve health care; and promotes public support for professional nursing education, research, and practice. POSITION SUMMARY Responsible for providing leadership, operational oversight and management of AACN's information technology environment. This role ensures that all technology systems, infrastructure, applications, and services are secure and reliable, and aligned with AACN's mission and business objectives. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Leadership and Planning Develops, implements, and maintains AACN's enterprise IT strategy and roadmap aligned with organizational goals. Works with staff to develop strategies to improve service delivery, operational efficiency, and user experience. Monitors emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices; evaluates and recommends solutions that meet business, security, and scalability requirements. Infrastructure, Systems, and Network Administration Working with external IT service provider, oversees the administration, availability, performance, and security of all networks, endpoint and cloud-based services. Ensures proper user access controls, identity management, and security configurations to prevent unauthorized access to systems and data. Oversees systems for disaster recovery, business continuity, data backup, and restoration procedures. Manages mobile device services, email systems, spam filtering, antivirus and endpoint protection solutions. Ensures high availability and reliability of systems supporting both internal staff and external users. Cybersecurity and Risk Management Working with IT partner, establishes information security policies, standards, and best practices to protect AACN data and systems. Monitors cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities; coordinate remediation, patching, and incident response activities. Leads staff training and awareness initiatives related to cybersecurity, data protection, and acceptable technology use. Ensures compliance with applicable legal, regulatory, and contractual technology requirements. Application and Systems Management Works with staff and consultants to identify and implement software solutions that support business processes. Maintain and support internal websites and platforms (e.g., Board portals, internal systems, and databases). Administer the Zoom enterprise collaboration and communication platforms. Staff and End-User Support Oversees day-to-day IT support services, including hardware, software, and system issues submitted through TechSupport. Provides or coordinates training for staff on software, systems, and IT procedures. Ensure consistent, high-quality customer service for internal users and timely resolution of technical issues. Documentation, Policies, and Procedures Maintains comprehensive documentation for IT infrastructure, systems, configurations, procedures, assets, licenses, and credentials. Establishes standard operating procedures and best practices for IT operations and end users. Vendor and Contract Management Serves as the primary liaison with IT vendors, contractors, and service providers. Manages and monitors vendor contracts and service-level agreements. REQUIREMENTS Baccalaureate degree in information. At least 5 years of prior experience in similar role. Must be highly organized, detail oriented, flexible and collaborative, and have good interpersonal Excellent ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Additional qualifications include good time management, problem solving skills and strong project management, with ability to manage concurrent Ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
