The consultant will serve in the HR Payroll group and will support the HR (NYCAPS, RET-NYCAPS) and Payroll (PMS, PPMS) applications.
Specific job duties will include:
• Analyze and document mainframe and NYCAPS migrations procedures.
• Author functional specifications; review functional specifications with business owners for approval; review functional specifications with technical staff during transition to technical design and coding phases of the project.
• Work with technical job admins and support personnel to research problems to find and implement solutions.
• Software migrations into all required environments according to current agency migration procedures and standards in a timely manner. The migration steps include planning, review, execution, and quality assurance activities. Components to be migrated involve source code, object code, load modules, DBRMs, and copybooks. Actions performed upon migration are compiled, linked, and bound respective to each of the environments.
• Perform migration steps according to current agency procedures and standards and according to established schedules and plans. The Configuration Management staff provides the overall setup and migration of all RM component software changes into staging libraries. Processes include staging JCL, PROC, and Control Card coding changes, assigning tasks to tech Support, and communicating the task requirements to the responsible departments.
• Maintain Production procedures to set up JCL and communicate with Tech Support via e-mail. Add all new programs to Golden copies in all test environments.
• Support prod migrations for changes to JCL and Procs. Reply to the e-mail if you migrated the change on the e-mail report. List the RM number associated with the migration.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Experience compiling, linking and binding COBOL programs.
• Experience with Rational ClearQuest and ClearCase.
• Experience using TSO/ISPF.
• Proficiency with JCL.
• Strong understanding of standard system development life cycle methodologies.
• Familiarity with MS-Word and Excel.
• Knowledge of DB2, IMS DB/DC.
• Experience with PeopleSoft is a plus.
• Experience with UNIX is a plus.
• Experience working in Configuration Management with mainframe or midrange computer.
EDUCATION:
Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or in a Technical/Business Discipline is required.
