Senior Azure Cloud Architect

Introduction

The Senior Azure Cloud Architect will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing complex Azure cloud solutions. This role requires a deep understanding of Azure services and the ability to architect scalable and secure cloud environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement Azure compute services such as Virtual Machines, VM Scale Sets, App Services, Azure Functions, Container Apps, AKS, and Azure Batch.
  • Manage Azure storage solutions including Blob Storage, Azure Files, Managed Disks, and storage lifecycle management policies.
  • Architect Azure networking solutions at an enterprise level, including hub and spoke design and DNS strategy.
  • Implement identity solutions using Microsoft Entra ID administration and architecture, including Conditional Access, Privileged Identity Management, and RBAC design.
  • Develop data platform solutions using Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL Flexible Server, Synapse Analytics, and Data Lake Storage.
  • Integrate services such as API Management, Service Bus, Event Grid, Event Hubs, and Logic Apps.
  • Ensure compliance with Azure best practices and frameworks such as the Azure Well-Architected Framework and the Cloud Adoption Framework.
  • Automate deployment and management tasks using Bicep, Terraform, and ARM templates.
  • Monitor and optimize Azure resources using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver cloud solutions in a regulated environment.

Requirements

Required Education and Experience:

  • Degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 9-15 years of total IT experience, including 5-7 years of hands-on Azure engineering.
  • Experience in both hands-on engineering and architecture roles.
  • Expertise in Azure compute, storage, networking, identity, and data platform services.
  • Proficiency in Azure automation tools such as PowerShell, Bash, and Python.
  • Experience with Azure governance, monitoring, and cost management.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in Windows Server, Linux administration, or virtualization platforms.
  • Exposure to regulated industries such as financial services, healthcare, or government.
  • Experience with hybrid cloud architectures and application modernization.
  • Familiarity with relevant cybersecurity frameworks and service mesh concepts.
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Agreement and licensing structures.
  • Experience in Agile/Scrum development environments.

  • AZ-305, Azure Solutions Architect Expert (Required)
  • AZ-104, Azure Administrator Associate (Required)
  • AZ-500, Azure Security Engineer Associate (Required)
  • AZ-700, Azure Network Engineer Associate (Preferred)
  • SC-100, Cybersecurity Architect Expert (Preferred)
  • CKA, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (Preferred)
