Embedded Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking an Embedded Engineer in Dallas, TX.

Duties Include:
* Contribute directly to ROS-based C++ and Python codebases running on Linux systems
* Design, implement, and review software architectures; Lead design and code reviews and follow established SDLC processes
* Own key development areas and act as a primary stakeholder in technical reviews and approvals
* Mentor and guide less-experienced engineers through peer programming and technical coaching
* Scope, plan, and execute work within an Agile development framework
* Help define, implement, and continuously improve software development best practices and standard operating procedures
* Develop test plans and perform hands-on testing and verification on live systems

REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field
* 8+ years of relevant professional experience
* Strong experience designing and building production-grade software systems
* Proven experience working in Agile development environments with a focus on quality and process discipline
* Expert-level experience developing for Linux-based systems
* Strong proficiency in C/C++ and Python
* Experience with additional software technologies such as web development and databases (e.g., SQL)
* Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and modern testing strategies
* Experience with containerization and deployment workflows
* Proficiency with version control systems; Git preferred
* Hands-on experience with ROS (Robot Operating System)
* Experience with low-level communication interfaces (e.g., TCP/IP, sockets, CAN, SPI)
* Experience developing for or interfacing with embedded systems and microcontrollers
* Familiarity with robotics hardware and sensor technologies (e.g., motor controllers, lidars, encoders)
* Exposure to or development experience with autonomous navigation or robotic control systems

ROS Robotics/Robot Arm Motion/Bin Picking/Packing role:
This person would help with our core robot arm motion pipeline. This is fully C++, uses ROS2 and the MoveIt! Stack; We need experience in bin picking or bin packing applications:
* Kinematics
* ROS2
* MoveIt!
* Motion Planning
* Bin Picking/Packing
* Robot Calibration

Work Location & Travel:
* This is a fully onsite role, five days per week, based in Dallas, Texas
* Limited overnight travel may be required

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
