  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collect, interpret, organize, and report technical data.

Preferred Background

  • Previous experience at Microsoft, FAANG, or another Magnificent 7 company.
  • Experience evaluating emerging hardware technologies and assessing workload performance.
  • Experience developing tools or automation for performance measurement and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted data collection, analysis, or reporting.

Typical Day in the Role

  • Learn about new hardware technologies and understand their capabilities.
  • Analyze workloads running on emerging hardware platforms.
  • Measure performance and investigate hardware/software interactions.
  • Develop or use tools to collect, analyze, and organize performance data.
  • Share findings and recommendations with engineering teams.

Team Purpose

The team evaluates emerging technologies and analyzes hardware performance and software workloads to determine which technologies are a good fit for Microsoft Azure.

Key Project Focus

Contribute to projects involving emerging hardware evaluation, workload analysis, performance measurement, and hardware/software analysis to determine suitability for Azure.

Important Candidate Screening Criteria

Candidates with only pure software development experience and no hardware knowledge or performance analysis experience will not qualify. Priority will be given to candidates who can demonstrate practical experience analyzing performance, evaluating workloads, and understanding hardware/software interactions.
